Challenges Faced

The teams at EdBoards work in a geographically diverse setting. The project managers work from the US headquarters, while some have their operations functioning in India. Architects of the company work remotely, while the core team works from their respective home offices.

The teams are spread globally working day and night to fix ongoing issues had serious collaboration issues. The need to share ideas, documents, code base and even accessing the test environment of the product were some of the major issues faced by the management. Team members were finding it challenging to collaborate and communicate with other employees in the company. With a ‘no’ real time interaction in documents, chances of a virtual meet were thin.

The directive provided by the management at Edboards to the employees was crystal clear – they wanted collaboration, document and spreadsheet management tools; a cloud infrastructure to run their application, ability to have virtual meetings, and sharing of artefacts.

Google for Work was a clear choice of product for the above mentioned needs, along with the Google Cloud Platform for the development and production environments of EdBoards.

The evaluation criteria for choosing Google for Work solutions was ‘basic word processing’ and ‘spreadsheeting tools’. The need for a functionality excellent enough to manage the documents to capture requirements and financial information was satiated. The educationalist (EdBoards) looked out for collaboration as part of the document creation and management environment. While Google Hangouts promoted an effective way of working.

“Moving to Google for Work was a breeze”, says Swaroop Gokhale, Director, Edboards.

The workforce at EdBoards were keen and enthusiastic (at the same time) to shift to the SaaS world and experience the new changes in technology. Multiple people working on the same doc, same sheet simply amazed the resources. In fact, many welcomed Google for Work solutions as a quick and efficient way of working and learning. The mobile savvy techies could now browse anything and everything on their mobile devices with a significant increase in productivity.
