Get started with creating your insights engine with data visualization
A picture is worth a thousand words. Until recently, companies with compound supply chains spread across diverse geographies were not able to realize the true potential of the statement. Data analytics and visualization has made it possible for retailers and distributors to gather and analyze hundreds of data points to identify revenue trends.
Take an Asia-based major consumer appliance manufacturer for instance, that approached our Google Cloud technology team recently. The volume of data had grown exponentially for the company, and they were looking forward to more sophisticated data analytics and visualization algorithms to clearly understand geography-wise revenue trends. The company, when approached us, were capturing only a fraction of the massive potential value from their existing business data and analytics.
There are thousands of other businesses struggling with similar issues. The companies have access to huge amount of data but they lack effective business decision making owing to lack of resources to make sense out of their large volumes of data, or they lack tools and technologies to run powerful performance analysis with data visualization. These organizations are in a dire need to completely digitize their operations in order to capture more relevant data from their customer interactions, supply chains, equipment, and internal processes.
The bottleneck in the process is usually the hesitation to switch from legacy data systems to a more flexible architecture to store and leverage big data. Where, digital native organizations are built on the foundation of analytics, legacy companies are usually seen toiling around transforming their entire existing systems. Consequences of neglecting analytics can potentially leave an organization exposed to the perils of being disrupted.
Performance / revenue analysis with data visualization
In their quest to get an unfiltered, clear visualization of their own data, MediaAgility built a map based web application which provides comprehensive insights about the company’s performance across all territories. The web app is capable of filtering results by region, sales rep, retailer etc. Data visualization is performed on Google Maps while analytics are run by Google BigQuery.
